Notes for the nights and days that thank your staff
Every year someone in HR or admin is handed the staff party. It might be a dinner and dance, a festive fun fair or a family day in the park. These notes are written for that person: short, practical and focused on the decisions that shape how the day goes for guests.
In these notes
- A dinner and dance for a team based in the west: venues near home, shift patterns and getting people back.
- A resort island evening: choosing between indoor and open air spaces, and the rain plan.
- A night out for tech teams: seating, inclusion and keeping speeches short.
- Laying out a Christmas fun fair: zones, queues and the opening rush.
- A park family day for every age: toddlers, children, teenagers and the grown-ups.
How we write
We stick to what tends to work in planning: who is coming, how they travel, how the space is used and what happens when the weather turns. We avoid venue rankings and claims we cannot stand behind, so please check current details with any venue you consider.
The one question to ask first: what would make a guest leave early? Plan away that reason and most of the night takes care of itself.
For outdoor events, the forecast from the Meteorological Service Singapore is worth checking in the week before.
